Iwona Sobotka will appear as Amelia (Maria) in Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra at the Tokyo Spring Festival, performing under the baton of Maestro Riccardo Muti. The concert-style performances will take place at the Tokyo College of Music’s 100th Anniversary Hall (Ikebukuro Campus) on:

Presented as part of the Festival’s Italian Opera Academy in Tokyo Vol. 5, the production brings together an outstanding cast, including baritone George Petean (Simon Boccanegra), bass Michele Pertusi (Jacopo Fiesco), and tenor Piero Pretti (Gabriele Adorno). The performance features the Tokyo-HARUSAI Festival Orchestra and Tokyo Opera Singers, under chorus master Junya Nakata.
The program is Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra (opera in three acts with a prologue), sung in Italian with Japanese surtitles. Duration is approximately 2 hours 50 minutes, including the intermission.
