Polish soprano Iwona Sobotka will make her highly anticipated debut at the prestigious Salzburg Festival in summer 2026, performing Verdi’s Messa da Requiem with Maestro Riccardo Muti and the Vienna Philharmonic.
Sobotka joins an exceptional cast including mezzo-soprano Marianne Crebassa, tenor Michael Spyres, and bass Maharram Huseynov for three performances at the Grosses Festspielhaus on August 15 at 11:00 am, August 16 at 9:00 pm, and August 18 at 7:30 pm.
This engagement continues Sobotka’s acclaimed artistic partnership with Maestro Muti, following their celebrated performance of the same work with the Orchestre National de France at the Philharmonie de Paris in October 2024.
Muti’s annual summer concerts with the Vienna Philharmonic at Salzburg have become a treasured tradition spanning more than five decades. These performances, frequently featuring sacred choral repertoire, consistently draw sold-out audiences to the festival.
The Salzburg Festival debut marks a significant milestone in Sobotka’s distinguished international career and further establishes her as one of the leading interpreters of the Verdian repertoire on the world stage.
